Hi! I'm Elvie Dalton,

founder of Calliknit: a union of the two things that make me feel most alive- calligraphy and knitting.

I've always floated about trying hobby after hobby until I found crochet amigurumis back in 2008. I've been stuck to a pair of needles or a hook and yarn ever since. Then, in 2014, my family gifted me a wooden Winsor & Newton calligraphy set and now my hands are busy juggling a pen and nib, watercolor brushes, needles, and hooks.

In 2015, I started Calliknit as a way to create art for fans such as myself. My favorite projects come from passionate people that want to connect to other like-minded individuals. For me, it started as a child when my father would read me Tolkien. Watching him play video games and eventually playing them for hours with my brother became another source of inspiration. I now have as many interests as Eevee has evolutions! From Harry Potter to Doctor Who, I love a good fandom.

I also take inspiration from my unique environment. As a half-Korean, half-American living in scenic Korea, surrounded by interesting, well-traveled people, I have opportunities to explore new ideas and experience a multitude of different cultures. Growing up as an Army brat, I've lived in many places from Belgium to Korea to Miami, my style is as varied as my background. All of these aspects come together to make up Calliknit.

Take a look around. I hope you feel simultaneously at home here amongst your favorite fictional characters, as well as adventurous amongst all the real characters around the world who inspire my work.

  • "I signed up for the galaxy watercolor class for the first time, feeling a bit nervous since I hadn't touched watercolors in years. But there was no need! Because Elvie made everything easy and stress-free. I loved how my projects turned out and I can't wait to come back for another class..."

  • "Calliknit classes are great. Elvie is an extremely patient instructor and keeps her class sizes small, so she can give individual attention to everyone. I've taken her calligraphy and amigurumi crochet classes, and they were both excellent..."

  • "I made the decision to join the calligraphy and watercolor galaxy workshop in Busan. I have wanted to start calligraphy but kept procrastinating. It may have been impulsive but, boy am I glad I signed up!It was so worth traveling for! Elvie was a great teacher who balances professionalism and making you feel like a friend is guiding you. I highly recommend taking her workshop. I can barely wait for the next one! ..."
